Heritage Festival 2024

Day 1 of our 2024 Pocklington Heritage Festival. The conference on Anglo-Saxon’s and Vikings was so popular it was a sell out with over 130 delegates present. On view was our brand new travelling Museum which was part funded by a UK govt. Levelling-Up grant. The quality of the presentations was outstanding with many ground breaking and brand new research papers newly presented before publication. Alex Harvey’s new book on the Vikings was a complete sell-out on the book stall. The East Riding Archaeological Society stand was also popular.

Day 2 – The Beanfeast. What a fabulous evening!

Superb Viking food by Annette from the Lilypad cafe, Viking Sagas, Viking weapons with a battle duel demonstrating the effectiveness of different types of weaponry and fighting tactics, ale and free mead shots. The finale was the performance of the legendary folk group Shiftipig which included bonus songs by a sub-group of Shiftipig called ‘Hase Waits’ who performed at this year’s Beverley Folk Festival.
