Pocklington Area Open Studios 2026
POCKLINGTON AREA OPEN STUDIOS 2026
Friday 27 March 2026
Saturday May 16th & Sunday May 17th
Open 10am-5pm Daily: Free entry.
A road trip of creativity will be the hallmark of the next Pocklington Area Open Studios in May, when artists from around the area will team up to create an exciting weekend art trail.
The art fest will involve 30 locally-based creatives exhibiting and selling their work across 19 venues in celebration of the 15th Open Studios event.
Since it was launched in May 2011, PAOS has gained a wide reputation for the high standard of quality craftsmanship in its many forms, including paintings, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, sculpture, wood-working and photography.
“It has developed into one of the premier events of its kind in the county,” said ceramicist Barbara Wood, a PAOS co-founder and member of the steering group. “People like to buy directly from the creators and understand the provenance of something that will be unique to them and their home.”
The two-day event on May 16th and 17th encompasses the bustling market town of Pocklington and surrounding villages within an eight-mile radius. It gives visitors a chance to step into the studios, talk to artists and makers directly and purchase original work at affordable prices.
The locations allow visitors time to create their own art trail and visit as many studios as possible across the weekend.
PAOS was first formed to celebrate the diverse creativity of the area while keeping the event to a manageable size for the hundreds of art-loving visitors. At its launch there were 12 artists in five venues and some of those original people will still be taking part in 2026
Word of the event’s success has spread so far that visitors travel to the event from all over the country. By planning their route in advance, they will be able to see previews of the artists’ latest works, chat about the wide and varied creative processes, and have the option to buy directly from the creators, as well as discuss commissions and learn about workshops and courses.
Details of this year’s PAOS and all of those taking part, along with a comprehensive map of the studio locations, are available on the website, through brochures and via Instagram.
